Subject: Screen Editor dll File Missing?
Hi Tom,

I tried loading the Screen Editor today and get an error indicating the "mfc140d.dll" is missing. I have used this editor before without any trouble. Is this something I can install after the fact? Would anti-virus have removed or blocked it?

Thanks,
David.

Hi David,

You must run KMotionCNC.exe before running the Screen Editor with the Dialog Face set to "Custom".

mfc140d.dll is a Microsoft debug library.  I see now we have a bug where the if the Screen Editor detects KMotionCNC isn't running it attempts to automatically launch it from the Debug folder.  Debug code won't run if the debug libraries (Visual Studio) isn't installed.

I had to find this searching the internet myself.  Just put it in the kmotion directory or maybe under the windows drivers directory can't remember.

Russ,
As Tom already noted it's not needed.  If you downloaded that dll off the internet from some random site there is a good chance you have exposed yourself to malware or a virus.   It's a tool meant for developers that is not distributed with applications.  If you find a link for it, it is not legitimate, Microsoft only makes it available as part of a development tool (Visual Studio).

Greg, Tom

You guys are totally correct.  I forgot that when I got this it did not fix my issue.  I have to follow Tom's guidance and got it all working.

Greg,

The version I got came directly from Microsoft, it was a direct link.  Regardless I believe I installed the Visual Studio the free one can't recall but it all works now.
